A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MORRO BAY, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MORRO BAY TO ENTER
INTO A FY 2025/2026 OIL SPILL RESPONSE EQUIPMENT STAGING SAN LUIS
OBISPO COUNTY FUNDING AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT
OF FISH AND WILDLIFE (CDFW) IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000.00
T H E C I T Y C O U N C I L
City of Morro Bay, California
WHEREAS, City of Morro Bay applied for and was awarded an Office of Spill
Prevention and Response equipment Funding Grant in the Amount of $40,000.00 in
fiscal year 23/24; and
WHEREAS, the grant allowed the City’s Harbor Department the ability to utilize
the funds to purchase a mobile storage trailer for spill response, boom, absorbents,
anchors, personal protective equipment, and equipment deployment training; and
WHEREAS, the City’s Harbor Department is now applying for funding to restock
low inventory supplies for the mobile storage trailer for spill response with a FY
2025/2026 Oil Spill Response Equipment Staging Grant Funding Agreement with
CDFW; and
WHEREAS, the funding will allow the City’s Harbor Department to maintain
rapid, high-level emergency response capabilities to safeguard the bay’s natural beauty
and protect our community’s vital resources; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Morro
Bay, California as follows:
1. The City is hereby authorized to enter into a FY 2025/2026 Oil Spill
Response Equipment Staging Grant Funding Agreement with CDFW in the
Amount of $5,000.00.
2. The City’s Harbor Director, or designee, is hereby authorized and designated
to sign for and act as the City’s agent in all aspects of the grant contract
agreement and amendments.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Morro Bay at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 24th day of June 2025 on the following vote:
AYES: Wixom, Eckles, Edwards, Landrum, Luffee
