RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MORRO BAY, CALIFORNIA
AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MORRO BAY TO ENTER INTO A 2025/2026 BOATING
SAFETY AND ENFORCEMENT EQUIPMENT GRANT CONTRACT WITH STATE OF
CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION,
DIVISION OF BOATING AND WATERWAYS

City of Morro Bay, California
WHEREAS, the City of Morro Bay applied for a 2025/2026 Boating Safety and
Enforcement Equipment (BSEE) Grant from the State of California Department of Parks and
Recreation, Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) in the amount of $32,689.96; and
WHEREAS, DBW awarded the City of Morro Bay a BSEE grant in the amount of
$32,689.96, which will allow the City the ability to utilize the funds to purchase two replacement
transom assemblies and two outdrives.
WHEREAS, the City of Morro Bay is required to appropriate and expend public funds to
conduct its day-to-day business activities; and
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025-26 Operating and
Capital Budget on June 24, 2025, by Resolution No. 38-25; and
WHEREAS, the State of California Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of
Boating and Waterways (DBW) has awarded the City a grant to purchase two replacement
transom assemblies and two outdrives for the Harbor Department’s 2012, 26-foot Radon patrol
vessel; and
WHEREAS, City staff did not include this award or associated expenditures in the
adopted budget; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it necessary to amend said budgets.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Morro Bay,
California, as follows:
1. The City is hereby authorized to enter into the BSEE grant contract agreement #
C25L0604 in the amount of $32,689.96 for the purchase of two replacement
transom assemblies and two outdrives.
2. Harbor Business Manager Lori Thompson is hereby authorized to act as the
City’s agent in regard to all aspects of the grant contract agreement, including
but not limited to approval and execution of necessary and related documents
on behalf of the City.
3. Authorizes a budget amendment to recognize $32,689.96 in grant revenue
awarded and $32,689.96 in expenditures as outlined in Table 1.
