ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING - JUNE 4, 1986

Mayor Pro Tem Sheetz called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m.

Alan Davis reviewed the Harbor Department budget, noting the up-
grade in clerical level from an Office Assistant I to a III.
Councilmember Risley favored providing compensation to the Harbor
Commissioners in the same manner as is provided for Planning Com-
missioners, including travel expenses. Councilmembers Kaltenbach
and Risley suggested upgrading the the Water Engineer's classifi-
cation in comparison to the Harbor Director's salary.
Councilmember Miller disagrees with compensation for Harbor Com-
missioners, but agrees they should have an expense account.
Nelson Sullivan, Harbor Commissioners Nancy Bast, Lawrence Read
and Peter Diffley provided comments on the Harbor Department bud-
get, noting projects that were left unfunded and that the Harbor
Commission did not have the opportunity to review the budget
submitted.
Council recessed from 9:15 a.m. to 9:23 a.m.
MOTION: Councilmember Sheetz moved for a budget amendment by
staff for monetary support of the Harbor Commission
similar to the Planning Commission. The motion was
seconded by Councilmember Risley and unanimously
carried. (5-0)
It was noted the Harbor Commission should submit their recommen-
dations for the Harbor Department budget by Council's June 9th
meeting.

Chief Zerr reviewed the highlights of the Fire Department budget,
and discussed the Fire Services Fund Steering Committee's
activities.
Councilmember Miller noted an Emergency Medical Stop agency
(private sector) was needed in Morro Bay, and that he was working
on this.
Councilmember Sheetz left at 9:47 p.m.
ENGINEERING & ADMINISTRATION
Nick Nichols gave an overview of this division budget, and re-
sponded to questions. Approximately 500 of all project engineer-
ing is done by City engineers.
PROPERTY MAINTENANCE
Mr. Nichols reviewed this budget and answered questions.
MOTION: Councilmember Miller moved the meeting adjourn to June
5, 1986 at 8:00 a.m. The motion was seconded by Coun-
cilmember Risley and unanimously carried. (5-0)
