A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MORRO BAY, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
BETWEEN MORRO BAY COMMERCIAL FISHERMEN’S ORGANIZATION
AND THE CITY OF MORRO BAY
T H E C I T Y C O U N C I L
City of Morro Bay, California
WHEREAS, the City of Morro Bay has authority over State tidelands within its
jurisdictional boundaries, including, but not limited to, the commercial fishing slip; and
WHEREAS, the Harbor Commercial Fishing Dock at Lease Site 129W-131W,
1231 Embarcadero, needs repairs and is critical to the commercial fishing industry; and
WHEREAS, the Central Coast Joint Cable/Fisheries Liaison Committee will grant
$650,000 and Morro Bay Community Quota Fund will grant $150,000 to the Morro Bay
Commercial Fishermen’s Organization to undertake the project; and
WHEREAS, the Morro Bay Commercial Fishermen’s Organization has agreed to
use the $800,000 in these grant funds exclusively to perform repairs to the Harbor
Commercial Fishing Dock.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Morro
Bay, California as follows:
1. The City is hereby authorizes a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”)
between the Morro Bay Commercial Fishermen’s Organization (“MBCFO”) and
the City of Morro Bay which approves MBCFO’s use of $800,000 in grant funds
toward the Harbor Commercial Fishing Dock Repair Project and in exchange
the City agrees to restricts the lease site solely to commercial fishing industry
use for a period of thirty (30) years.
2. The City Manager, or their designee, is hereby authorized to act as the City’s
agent in regard to all aspects of the MOU.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Morro Bay at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 12th day of May 2026 on the following vote:
AYES: Wixom, Eckles, Edwards, Landrum, Luffee
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
